Bros of the Week
The quest to be the best in the world starts at a young age. Few have the drive, the passion, and the talent to go for it, and many of those who do will fall short. This past week, four Americans didn’t just go out to compete against the top competitors in their sport – they surpassed everyone’s expectations and brought home gold. The USA Olympic 4 x 100 men’s freestyle relay team persevered and swam hard into the wall to clinch the victory and a shattered world record. Though most experts expected the French to take home top honors, including a few outspoken trash-talkers on the French team, team captain Jason Lezak out-touched France’s anchor after a strong leadoff by Michael Phelps and star performances by Garrett Weber-Gale and Cullen Jones to guarantee a gold medal for the United States. For Phelps, it was another step along the way in his quest to break Mark Spitz’ record of eight gold medals in one Olympics. He’s currently tied with Spitz, Paavo Nurmi, Larissa Latynina, and Carl Lewis for a total of nine gold medals. These champions of the water are representing the USA with dignity and pride – Brofessional is proud to support these Bros in their quest to make history!
