Paul Newman Dies at the Age of 83

Americans lost a hero this weekend, as legendary philanthropist and actor Paul Newman passed away from cancer at his Westport, Connecticut home. Born in a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio in 1925, Newman tried out career paths in both the military and sporting goods management before he turned to acting. His iconic roles in movies such as “Cool Hand Luke” and “The Hustler” cemented his status in American film history, and he received an Oscar in 1987 for his work in “The Color of Money.”
One of the original Brofessionals, Newman will always be remembered for his classic good looks, Academy Award-winning talent, and movie star style. But many people don’t know the Paul Newman who was a hands-on charity worker, not only donating large sums of money to philanthropic movements but also staying actively involved in the day to day operations. His “Newman’s Own” foods company has grossed over $100 million in profits, and Newman donated the entirety of it to charity.
Newman was also a frequent visitor to his Hole in the Wall Camps, which provided the quintessential childhood summer camp experience to children who otherwise wouldn’t have had the chance to due to serious illnesses such as cancer. At camp, Newman was just a friendly guest, making sure the campers were enjoying their stay, never asking to be treated like the renowned movie icon he was. More importantly, he never called attention to the fact that so much of his life’s work was devoted to worthwhile causes and charities. He simply used his connections and resources to make the world a better place, and he did it all with class and dignity. The style world has truly lost a role model, but his work and peerless grace will never be forgotten.

Dam good actor
How time flies. It's already been a couple of weeks since his passing and yet I can remember so many great movies that seem like yesterday. The comments are really nice. But if we are naming movies it has to the "The Hustler" hands down. Lots of great movies to choose from I know but this one is it for me.
You will be missed
Nothing I can say that the world doesn't already know. Sad to see you go Mr. Newman, you will be missed.
Posting a blog boss…
Cool Hand Luke was one of the greatest movies I have ever seen. Paul Newman and George Kennedy are amazing in this flick. Even by today's standards, that car wash scene was one of the hottest things I have ever seen. HAHA it just cracks me up. For myself, the other great roll Newman had was in "Road to Perdition". Yes he was a bit older but he nailed it. He truly was a great actor and an even better person. The world has surely lost an icon but he will be dearly remembered.
Passing of a legend indeed
I will tell you that Paul Newman was the man. He was as good an actor as he was a philanthropist. I am terribly saddened by his loss. He was one of the greatest actors of a generation. I salute you Paul. May you rest in peace.
