Style Watch: Fall 2008

in

It's never too early to start planning for the fall. The latest looks to hit the runways involve lots of horizontal stripes, sweaters, and layers. V-neck and other high-necked sweaters are all the rage, as are solids with minimal patterns or designs. Layer a pea coat on top of dress shirts with popped collars, or try tying a sweater, preppy-style, over a coat. Along with the traditional greys and blacks, reds are making a splash. Yellow and orange accents are also acceptable. Solid sweaters with colored trim will pop with dress pants and shoes.

On an accessory-related note, try solid gloves with striped scarves. Gloves in bright, vibrant shades complement serious ensembles with a dash of suave sparkle. Try a matching purple hat and glove combo or even a pale blue or pink set. Just be careful not to overdo it; remember to match dark tones with bright accents. Your whole outfit should never consist of one color exclusively.
